When I sit down to type this every year I’m normally sitting in my upstairs office and looking out the window I can see the leaves falling from the trees and the thing that almost always crosses my mind is “How did I get here" “Where did the time go"” Another year is almost over and that’s a little surreal to me. Remember when you were a child and time crawled by" Christmas was two hundred years away and Winter break felt like three years off from school. Or when you really wanted to go to the movies during the weekend but it was Monday and you couldn’t go until Saturday and that would take about ten years to get to. Time crawled when I was 5, 10, 12, 16 years old. As I got older time got a hell of a lot faster and I’ve reached the point there are simply not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do. It doesn’t help I live in New York where everything is rushed. The mentality of a New York minute is a real thing! It translate as everything needs to be now, right this minute, absolutely no waiting, NOW, NOW, FAST, QUICK, HURRY! When I go to California I marvel at how endless the days seem but in New York, well, everything flies right by. Thanksgiving is a weird holiday because I get pretty sentimental around this time of the year because I look around me and I realize how much I have to be thankful about.
