Shaveworks is a spin off range from Antony, the American brand that makes skincare for men but can be ‘borrowed’ by women (their Advanced Formula Lip Balm SPF 25 has a matt finish so is great for slicking over lipstick when you want to add sun protection). Shaveworks has been developed for women to deliver smooth pre and post shave skin and, based on the two products I’ve tried, it lives up to its claims.
Though The Cool Fix is thought of as the hero product in the range, it’s the Pearl Polish that’s impressed me the most. It’s a body oil that does double duty as both a cleanser and a shaving oil. I’ve been using it on my legs and pits and it leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth. The scent is absolutely delicious and though it includes ginger, lavender and vanilla I can’t pick out any of those notes individually – it just has a lovely rounded fragrance that’s clean and not overpowering. It also contains ingredients to reduce irritation. I’ve tried shaving with oils before and it hasn’t been a success. The problem has been that the oil has been too thick so my razer gets clogged before I’ve done half a leg. Thankfully, this isn’t an issue with Pearl Polish as it mostly transforms into a milky texture when mixed with water so there’s no oil overload.
