How to Remove Black Spots Caused by Acid Peel Burn

An acid or glycolic acid peel is commonly used for chemical peels intended to remove wrinkles, acne and skin discoloration. Proper aftercare is important to heal skin burned from glycolic acid. Sometimes, if the peel was left on for little longer, it can lead to burn-like black spots on your skin. Most of these spots are mostly superficial and can be lightened with proper aftercare.

1. Hydroquinone
Hydroquinone works by inhibiting an enzyme called tyrosinase, which aids in the production of melanin which can lead to dark or black spots. While directly applying it may not be suitable for every skin type, but you can definitely go for products that have Hydroquinone in them.

Dark spots will get darker with sun exposure, so a sunscreen is a must no matter what the weather is. Chemical peels also increase the photosensitivity of the skin, so it becomes all the more important to use sun block. Sunscreens that have either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide can block out most of the rays that will darken the dark spots, so look out for these in your sunscreen.
