What the F*** Are Omegas & Why Should We Care"
Omega is not just the last letter of the Greek alphabet or a fraternity’s namesake…omegas are fatty acids, there are many of them, and they are super important for health… and beauty.
We’ve forced ourselves to down fish oil supplements for the sake of health, but other than “being good for you,” what do omegas actually do" They regulate inflammation in the body…believe us when we say this is huge! By doing so, they help to stabilize a number of bodily functions, like metabolism and brain development. NBD.
There are two types of omegas that don’t occur naturally in the body, and thus, must be ingested. These are omega-3 and omega-6. Good news is, we’re probably already consuming our fair share of omega-3 and 6 in our avocado-a-day diet. Avocados, olive oil, salmon and tuna, flaxseed, and raw nuts are all high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. (The spicy tuna roll just got a whole lot more interesting.) Unless you’re eating an omega-rich diet, consider taking an omega-3 supplement. Okay, they’re good for health, we got it. Now here’s the beautifying bit: omegas basically moisturize from the inside, managing oil production and hydration of the skin, preventing acne and premature aging, making hair more lustrous, and nails stronger and healthier. Boom! They’re like beauty oils for your insides. And you know what they say, beauty starts from within. We’ll be upping our omega intake asap! ...
