Aesthetic medicine is a broad category and the best definition comes from the industry body The British College of Aesthetic Medicine which promotes safe and ethical practice in this area:
Aesthetic medicine means a medical speciality, undertaken by registered and licensed medical practioniers comprising of surgical and non surgical procedures or treatments with topical or local anaesthesia to restore and enhance or modify the appearance, anatomy or physiology of the cutaneous, subcutaneous tissues or associated structures using techniques that combine aesthetic considerations with the treatment or prevention of diseases disorders or condition in the promotion of physical and mental health of patients.
