Trending: Monochromatic Makeup
Monochromatic makeup (using the same color family on all features: eyes, lips, and cheeks) isn’t a new trend (in fact, we first discussed its reemergence back in 2014), but it’s certainly a trend worth revisiting. It’s literally been everywhere as of late: From Rihanna’s purple power look in London to Karlie Kloss’ pinkish-nudish-redish face in Paris just the other day. And then, rap phenom Cardi B rocked the most gorgeous orange monochromatic look using all Fenty Beauty products. Lest us not forget the spring/ summer runways of fashion month which showcased the trend.
Basically, monochromatic makeup works like this: you choose one color that you want to work with, then you include multiple shades of that color for all of your features. While a nude monochromatic face looks fab, we’re loving this season’s more bold iterations of the trend in hues like red, orange, and even purple. Here, we break down the products used to create these two glam slam monochromatic makeup looks:
On Rihanna (by makeup artist Priscilla Ono):
Face: Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick ($25) in Confetti, an iridescent opal, and Unicorn, a platinum lilac.
Eyes: Fenty Beauty Match Stix shimmer skin stick in Confetti and Unicorn
Lips: Fenty Beauty Match Stix shimmer skin stick in Confetti
