The Anti-Ageing Debate With Avene And The Thirty Plus Collective
Towards the end of the last year Avene hosted an event for the Thirty Plus Collective to introduce their new range, Physiolift. This was unlike most launch events as the products took a back seat and the focus was a debate to discuss how skincare brands could address women more positively.
London Beauty Queen, Hayley Car chaired the prestigious panel that was made up of:
Jane Cunningham –Â British Beauty Blogger,
Dr Sam Bunting – A Leading Dermatologist
Dr Linda Papadopoulos – Respected Psychologist and TV Presenter
Amanda Miles – Marketing Manager, Avène
Predictably, it was a lively discussion with a lot of passionate and sometimes conflicting views being shared by both the panel and audience. I think it’s fair to say the consenus was that women don’t like being spoken to in a negative and disrespectful way by beauty brands and made to feel ashamed about getting older and the changes to our skin that brings. The message should be getting older is something to be celebrated. It was also noted that that the fetishising of youth is a problem that exists is society generally. It also seems that there’s an enormous pressure on the selfie generation to be unreleastically perfect now. The fact that  a lot of todays big models/reality stars appear to have had cosmetic surgery and are airbrushed/facetuned is fuelling an insecurity in young women that can’t be ignored.
