When Tabs gets dreamy-eyed and gazes off toward a tree filled with fluttering finches, or he closes his eyes and tastes the breeze with his tongue (he looks especially dreamy when he does this), I wonder what he’s thinking about.
Does he daydream about gravy" Is he listening to one bird’s particular song" Is he counting down the seconds till he has to go back inside the house" Is he reminding himself to live in the now"

I wish I knew, because I’d love to be able to give him more of what he likes.

When he’s napping and his little paw is twitching in REM sleep, I wonder if he’s dreaming about chasing birds, or bygone summer days when all he had to do was hang out on his hill and pounce at the occasional mouse, while he waited for me to get home from work. I know he’s dreaming about something. I just wish I knew what it was.
