Luna is the latest fragrance from Penhaligon’s and as I fell head over heals in love with their previous launch, Equinox Bloom (reviewed HERE), I was very keen to try it. Obviously, there’s a risk of disappointment when expectations are high but I needn’t have worried as Luna is another winner.
Luna is actually not 100% dissimilar to Equinox Bloom – I’d describe it as its darker, moodier and more mysterious cousin. It’s been created to accompany the new Endymion Concentré with both taking inspiration from Greek Mythology…
The Goddess of the Moon placed Endymion, the most handsome son of Zeus, into a personal slumber so that she could gaze upon him forever, his stunning face unmarked by the passage of time. The wishes of the Goddess were granted and Enymion slept on for all eternity, his smile everlasting. And no wonder, for he spent his life forever dreaming that he held the moon, Luna, gently in his arms.
Luna is described as being a fruity floral but I think this undersells it as the scent is deeper and more complex than that. It starts with a blast of citrus but then takes a turn into something more sensual. The rose and jasmine bring a richness and intensity. There’s a powdery element which is juxtaposed against the tang of Juniper. All this is backed up with a base that is warm, woody, musky and very, very sexy.
