It's that time of year again! DIY presents - lotion bars
Christmas and Hannukah are almost here, and if you're looking to make some awesome gifts for your loved ones, join me over the next week for loads of ideas.
LOTION BARS
You can get the ingredients for these little lovelies at your local health food store if you can't get to a supplier or get things mailed to you in time. Melt equal parts one solid butter, one liquid oil, and beeswax, add a titch of fragrance or essential oil, and you're done!
BASIC LOTION BAR
33% solid butter, like shea butter, mango butter, or cocoa butter
33% liquid oil of any sort
33% beeswax
1% fragrance or essential oil
Melt all the ingredients except the fragrance or essential oil in a double boiler until liquid. Remove from the heat and pour into molds - chocolate molds or silicone ice cube trays are awesome for these lotion bars - or into lip balm tubs, tubes, or deodorant containers (like above). Let cool on the counter or in the fridge until hardened. Don't roll up the lip balm tubes until the next day to make completely sure they're solid.
Make only 100 grams of this product the first time you make it as you might want the bar to be softer, harder, less greasy, more greasy, and so on. 100 grams is a nice sized batch!

VARIATIONS ON THE LOTION BAR
