How To Wear Purple Highlighters
ICYMI: There’s a new highlighter hue in town, and it’s gracing the gorgeous faces of some of our favorite people: that color is purple, and it’s super hot for fall. We can thank Rihanna for the gaining traction of this trend (although Nars and Milk have offered the shade before). Not only did she dare to wear purple as an accent color, but she’s also offering the shimmery lavender shade from Fenty Beauty. Of course, other brands have followed suit, and now it’s the must-own highlighter hue for fall.
Who can wear it:
According to makeup artist Ashleigh Ciucci, in an interview with Allure, she says that purple is perfect for: “Because they are on the cool end of the spectrum, they’ll look better on more fair, cool, or yellow-based skin tones. “They can lean ashy or sallow on darker skin tones.” But, honestly, anyone can rock the purple…perhaps mute the tone a bit (read below for the how-to). How to wear it:
Just like your go-to highlighter of choice, the purple highlighter should highlight your high points: cheek bones, brow bones, and bridge of nose. You can add a dot to the cupid’s bow too, especially if you’re wearing a cool-toned lipstick. Purple highlighters loo great with a monochromatic face, but they can also be worn as a unicorn-like accent shade with a natural look (i.e. minimal, neutral-toned makeup and a nude lip).
