The threat of breast cancer is something women live with everyday. We might not think about it constantly but it’s one of those background worries we have for ourselves and the women we love. It’s also likely we know one or more women who’ve had a breast cancer diagnosis.
A couple of months ago I noticed a lump in my breast and was referred to see a specialist by my GP. Thankfully, nothing sinister was detected and more often than not this is the outcome in these situations. However, that doesn’t mean anyone should take any chances and it’s vital to go to your doctor as soon as you see or feel anything abnormal.
After getting the all clear I asked my specialist, Professor Mokbul, if he had any preventative advice and he gave me a sheet of recommendations which I’ve shared below. They mainly consist of general healthy lifestyle choices but if there’s anything you’re unsure about please seek advice from your own doctor. I’m sure it doesn’t need saying that I’m a beauty blogger who has had no medical training and my intention is just to pass on some information that might be interesting and helpful. I also don’t want to make anyone feel bad for not doing everything on the list – I think most of us would find it hard to tick off all the recommendations.
