Indulge in the cozy flavors of fall with this irresistible spicy apple upside down cake. Unlike traditional recipes that use white sugar, this cake features brown sugar for a rich, molasses-like sweetness that perfectly compliments the apples and spices. The addition of crunchy walnuts adds a delightful texture and nutty flavor.
This apple upside down cake has been a beloved family recipe for years, passed down from my other grandmother. The warm and comforting flavors remind me of her kitchen, which was always filled with the delectable aroma of cinnamon. She had an apple tree and loved to make homemade apple pies and cakes. Inspired by her, I planted my own apple tree, growing from a cutting of hers. We enjoyed many delicious apple treats from that tree until it sadly needed to be cut down.
