Dandelion Fig by Shay & Blue – A Perfume With A Difference
I think the main reason that Shay & Blue has become so popular in such a short space of time is because their fragrance are distinguishable. They don’t play it safe and repeatedly launch variations on the fruity floral theme which I’m personally just so bored with. With names like Blood Orange, Almond Cucumber and Salt Caramel you can’t help but be intrigued.
The latest edition to the range is Dandelion Fig which I think has to be their most creative concoction yet. It’s also become my favourite from their range. The brand describe it as being in the ‘woods’ category but other equally apt words could be green, herbal and even gourmand. The notes are as follows:
Top – Dandelion, Lemongrass
Heart – Tomato Vine, Juniper Base – Fig
It opens quite freshly with blast of bitter-sweet citrus that’s almost tickles the nose. Then a more herbal note kicks in which is underscored with spice. The dry down is where the wood element comes into play with the earthy fig bringing everything together. As it settles, it reminds me slightly of Oud but that might just be me.
Something that typifies Shay & Blue fragrances is that they smell more expensive than they actually are and if I was to do a blind smell test I’d place Dandelion Fig in the £100+ category. Adding to the fineness of this scent is the beautiful bottle and outer packaging which has such great attention to detail.
