Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo – Review & Swatches
Chanel are describing the recently launched Rouge Coco Stylo pen as a new chapter in makeup. I think the Stylo‘s are similar to the current trend in lip products that start of as a gloss and end up as a stain.
These hybrids feel nourishing, balmy and provide plenty of initial shine. What’s quite exceptional about them is their high level of pigment (except for the palest shade). One swipe really is enough. After the shine wears away, a nice tint remains.
The downside is that they’re very soft so it can be hard to apply neatly. I find it easier to lightly dab mine on which gives a softer look and avoids the risk of them smudging over the lip line.
I’m also not that keen on the Rouge Coco Stylo packaging. I prefer a squat and compact traditional lipstick bullet. Also the click mechanism on mine was faulty. After twisting it up just a bit for the above image, it wouldn’t wind back down. I took it back to Chanel who tested another one which twisted down perfectly so I was probably just unlucky. The Rouge Coco Stylo comes in 8 shades which I’ve swatched below apart from 216 Litre which is a natural mauve.

I bought 214 Message which is a deep rose. The following images show it freshly applied and four hours later. My lips look in desperate need of a balm to lessen the look of the lines but, that aside, it shows the nice residual stain.
