A New Classic Fragrance – Royal Princess Oud By Creed
Royal Princess Oud is the kind of fragrance I can’t breathe in deeply enough. I just want to be completely enveloped by it. It’s a sparkling floral with woody undertones. It opens with a burst of of citrus and the most prominent scent my nose picks out on the dry down is powdery, candied violets.
Though this fragrance is so much more than the sum of its parts these are the notes:
Top: Bergamot, Rose, Violet
Heart: Jasmine Absolute, Vanilla Absolute, Aldehyde, Patchouli, Iris
Base: Siamese Benzoin, Mysore, Sandalwood, Stryax, Oud
Creed is a perfume house with a very distinguished heritage. It actually started out in 1760 as a London tailors. After becoming a favourite with royals and aristocracy it moved to Paris in 1854 and established its reputation for exclusive fragrances. Its been in the same family for seven generations. Inspiration for Royal Princess Oud is a step back to the third generation and the costume sketches by Henry Creed II. The current master perfumer, Oliver Creed found these sketches ‘incredibly empowering and beautiful’ and created a fragrance based on them.
However, this fragrance is far from being stuck in the past and is decidedly modern and fresh. It has the same distinctive quality as other classics like Chanel No.5 but is less ubiquitous so you feel extra special wearing it.
