A lipliner trick
I don’t regularly wear lip liner, and the only time I’ll go to wear it is if I’m wearing a bold color that I want to look super clean around my lips.
It’s just one of those makeup steps that I never make time for and I typically don’t miss. I think part of that, though, is that I always felt like had to line my lips while carefully looking in the mirror and then apply lipstick, and then blot, and then reapply and it felt like a whole, long process.
In the summer, my makeup gets more minimal than ever, including lip color. I’ll reach for something sheer and light on days that my makeup is pretty basic. And I recently tried this trick to give my lips a tiny bit of attention without going overboard.
You can see in the photo below that my bottom lip sort of fades into my skin color. My natural lip color is such a soft pink that if I don’t wear anything on them I usually feel like I look tired or ill. So I grabbed my lip liner in the shade Boho by Tarte, and simply finished out my bottom lip.
All I needed was to add a touch of definition about my lower lip to make my entire mouth look a little bit more defined, without adding a ton of color.
Lip liner typically lasts well on the lips since it’s usually a drier formula than lipstick, so I would just apply a bit of my fresh Rose lip treatment on top and head out the door. And I honestly wouldn’t even touch up as the day goes on.
