In the past, books covering the topic of beauty fell into two categories: tutorial-come-guides, which truthfully are all but obsolete due to YouTube; then there's the lengthy - and often stuffy - history of cosmetics type novels - great if that is your calling, dull otherwise. If ever you have struggled describing fragrances, or simply want to increase your general knowledge of over 400 existing perfume, cologne and Eau de Toilettes, this is the book for you. This is a detailed yet non-frills guide that breaks down all the elements and categories of fragrance (the authors can be a tad scathing, particularly towards celebrity fragrances which can be amusing). A must read for any collector and beauty blogger for that matter; the only downside is it may make you reconsider any current or future scented purchases.
